Wildlife Federation Offers Free Guide

Parents who take the National Wildlife Federation’s "Be Out There" pledge will receive a free Summer Survival guide to outdoor activities. The guide includes lots of tools for families to have fun on an outdoor adventure: games to play, fun nature activities, top ten outdoor toys, sun safety tips, ways to keep mosquitoes at bay, itchy plants to watch out for and what to pack.

The Guide is part of the Federation’s Be Out There campaign, designed to get kids and their families to have more active, outdoor fun. According to the Federation, "Today’s kids spend only four to seven minutes outside per day. They log more than seven hours per day in front of electronic media. Research connects the lack of outdoor time to increased obesity, depression, stress, diabetes, ADD and poor performance in the classroom."

The campaign’s website includes dozens of activities that families can enjoy outside.
