Why do Delaware Valley parents like their children’s doctors and dentists?
When asked to recommend their Favorite Docs for children, MetroKids readers offered many reasons. Comments seemed to center on four factors: Care, Communication, Compassion and Convenience.
CARE: "He basically gave back to my son his quality of life after many doctors weren’t able to,” says the recommendation for Charles Vinocur, MD, a pediatric surgeon at Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. “His special interest is the rare disease that my son has and we are so thankful for him.”
COMMUNICATION: Burlington, NJ pediatrician Stephen Niedzwiecki, MD, was recommended because “everything is always so well explained at every appointment. There is never a time when you feel you cannot ask that one more question. No problem is too big or too small to discuss. He makes all of my kids ages 8-15 feel comfortable.”
COMPASSION: When a reader’s son was admitted to the hospital with RSV, Marlton, PA pediatrician Velmina Rivera, MD, “did her best to comfort me. She sat with me in the hospital. She was there as more than just a doctor.”
CONVENIENCE: A reader likes that David Epstein, MD, a Newark, DE pediatrician “has evening and Saturday hours. I can always get a same day appointment,” adding that “I also enjoy that he has a ‘sick’ and ‘well’ waiting room so during well visits we aren’t in contact with any viruses.”

Dr.Binnersley is a wonderful dentist he has a great way of walking children through something as simple as an exam to doing dental fillings! His patients are to be aknowledged as well as his sense of humor with them. Would recommend him to everyone!!!!<p> Dr. Hansen has seem my children for the last 20 years and has always been very attentive to taking care of their teeth. Including recommending and working with an Orthodontist since both of them ended up needing braces. My son has had numerous issues due to soft teeth and poor brushing habits. Whenever possible, Dr. Hansen would fit him in to fix issues when we were there for a cleaning, so that we did not have to come back another time. Remarkably, though he has so many patients, he still remembers what my kids special interests are and asks about how they are doing whenever any of us are in for a visit, He is a kind and caring gentleman. Dr. Hansen took over as our preferred dentist once Dr. Anzilotti retired. After many years with Dr. A, we thought switching would be very difficult. After meeting Dr. Hansen we all agreed he was the right fit for us. From day 1 he has provided them with excellent care. He is very personable, thorough and very gentle. We highly recommend him. |

Dr. Bradley is the greatest! He explains the procedures so children can understand. He provides high quality care. He is always warm, welcoming and authentically happy to see us. He is engaging and always remembers what sports my son is actively participating in and asks about them. He is very thorough and did a tremendous job re-creating a permanent tooth that my son chipped very badly. Dr. Carroccia is very thorough, particular and conscientious. Dr. D'Antonio is very kind, patient and knows each of my kids personally. I have 4 kids (14,13,10,6); he is always engaged in conversation with them. He has an amazing bedside manner and always explains everything in a level that the kids understands. He uses every moment as a teaching moment, too. My kids actually do not mind going to the dentist all because of Dr. D'Antonio. I would highly recommend him to any child or adult. I have never enjoyed going to the dentist, but he makes it as pleasant of an experience as it can be. Dr. D'Antonio wants to make sure that the kids are never in pain and explains everything before he does any procedure. |

Dr. Dale Collins created a special doctor-patient relationship with our daughter and now she loves the dentist. This is a huge accomplishment. Dr. Dale’s office is very easy to get in touch with in case of an emergency or even after hours and if you need an appointment there is not a long wait like other offices. |

Dr. Cornatzer is knowledgeable, professional and has incredible bedside manner. I have been very happy switching to him personally, but even moreso after I brought my daughter in with a chipped tooth. He is great with kids and anxious parents! Awesome guy and dentist. My kids love visiting the dentist and I attribute it all to Dr. Cornatzer and his wonderful staff at Dental Associates of Delaware in Lantana. My youngest just went in for this first visit and was thrilled to get to ride in the dentist chair and pick a prize out of the treasure chest! Dr. Dua is an outstanding dentist. He is very friendly and honest and has a great way with kids. My 6 year old son loves going to the dentist and visiting with Dr. Dua! Dr Dua is always smiling, kind, and gentle. We started our daughter at an early age. You sit in the room with the kids. We just love him and his hygienist, Ellen. My family and I have been patients of Dr. McSpadden for several years. He and his team, Debbie, Karen, Jean and Lorraine continue to be the best. Skills, professionalism, kindness, efficiency, patience are consistently unsurpassed. We have been treated by Dr. McSpadden for crowns,fillings,implants, pediatric dentistry, orthodontic consultations over the years. His work is topnotch! He and his team allow us to participate in treatment decisions. We would not think of going anywhere else. A dedicated staff and happy atmosphere speak volumes! |

Dr Smith is great with all ages of children, has wonderful bedside manners and always has time for additional questions both at office visits and over the phone. Dr. Smith and Dr. Achterhof provide the best care for my children. They are easy to talk to and listen to your concerns. They have appointments in the evenings and weekends. My kids love going to both doctors. They feel comfortable with them. Their office staff and nurses are great, too! I am a mom of 4 boys, 10, 12,14 & 16 years old. There are many reasons I LOVE Dr. Smith and Dr. A at Premier Peds. First and most importantly, they are great, knowledgeable doctors and give top notch care. On top of that, they believe in getting to know their patients, and they are never to busy for questions. They staff their office with polite, kind and friendly people. You can always get a sick appointment, and their offices are bright, cheery and clean! They truly care about their patients, and it shows. All my boys feel very comfortable seeing either dr. In today's busy, rushed society and all these huge practices, it is nice to have Premier Pediatrics because they believe in building relationships, not just building a list of patients! I wish I could find a family doctor like this for my husband and myself. They are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Their office hours are very convenient, and it is very easy to get a sick child appointment. Whenever we visit for sick or well visits, both of my children are greeted with smiles. Both Dr. Smith and Dr. A take time to make my children feel comfortable before they begin their exam. For a sick visit, I am always able to get an appointment later that day since they have extended hours. The extended hours are great for a household that has two working adults. I just LOVE these two doctors. Although they are my children's doctors, they feel more like friends! As a mother of two children and an elementary school teacher, they exceed my expectations! The extra time, care, sensitivity and compassion they show toward both their patients and their families is extraordinary! Both of my children have been in their care since birth, and there has not been a single time we have waited too long, felt rushed or left unsatisfied. Their hours are awesome for two working parents. In addition to their extensive hours, they are on call for emergencies…you never have to deal with a nurse line. Bottom line…The best of the best, I refer EVERYONE with children to them. I could not ask for better doctors for my daughter. As a first-time parent I waver between paranoid and crazy when it comes to sniffles, bumps, bruises and everything else. Both doctors have always been patient, kind and thorough. I never feel rushed, patronized or like I'm being brushed off. They address all concerns, questions, and comments every time I take my daughter in to see them. On numerous occasions, we've had to call for medical emergencies and they have been nothing but the best. We had one instance where we had to go to the emergency room. Dr. A called ahead for us so the ER doctors had our son's information and was ready for when we arrived Premier Pediatric has the best hours for busy working families — with late nights and Saturday availability. During off-hours, one of the two doctors is available via call back. Once a message is left, a doctor will call you back almost immediately. No waiting, or going through nurse lines. There is no other pediatrician I would use. As a matter of fact, we moved farther away and we refuse to find a new doctor. Dr. Smith is a kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable provider. He is great with my kids and they love him! He makes us feel comfortable and he takes the time during office visits to thoroughly provide explanations and answer our questions. We do not feel rushed in Dr. Smith's office. He is always polite and courteous and is quick to return phone calls. The doctors from Premier Pediatrics are very warm, knowledgeable and skilled. Trust is the reason why I continue to seek care for my four children with Dr. Smith and Dr. Achterhof. The health of every child is a priority for every parent, but you have great doctors when you know that they share that same priority for your children as well. As a parent, I feel that these doctors are the only choice for the care of my children. Dr. Achterhof has a very comforting bedside manner and she can always make my boys smile when they are sick. I never feel rushed when speaking with her whether on the phone or in the office. She always makes sure all my questions are answered and calms my worries. Dr. A has never let me down when it comes to the care of my children and they just love her!!!< Dr. Smith always returns calls right away, and always answers all of our questions. As new parents, we have many questions and Dr. Smith never rushes us or makes us feel like we are bothersome. He is wonderful! |

My son has been a patient of Dr. Cohn's for 81/2 years. Over this time, Dr. Cohn has been there for every medical need. Dr. Cohn has a great relationship with my son. Dr. Light is a Mom and she gets it! She understands both the patient and the parent like she is living it. She's both cautious and aggressive, but most importantly funny and kind. Dr. Ann Masciantonio is a wonderful pediatrician. My kids have been going to her for 3 years. She came highly recommended by a friend and we could not be happier. She likes her job and it shows in everything she does. |

Dr. DiSanto (or Dr. Joe as he is called by my children) is a truly a blessing. He is so knowledgeable, kind, and really takes time with the children and parents. My children are always excited to see Dr. Joe! When the kids are sick and I don't want to wait out, it's easy to set up an appoitment right away with Dr. Eng. Especially during the H1N1 flu outbreak, Dr. Eng spared his time to talk to us about some symptoms and misconceptions. I really can see he puts out his heart to his patients and ensure they get the responsible and quality pediatric care. My four children are all patients of Dr John Gould's and I couldn't be happier. My 8-year-old daughter has special needs and he and his nurses have helped make sure that she receives the best care in their office as well as recommending other specialists. I am sure every patient they see is impressed with their office, staff and excellent care they receive. |

Dr. Epstein is great doctor! One of my favorite things is that he has evening and Saturday hours. I can always get a same-day appointment. It seems my daughter is always getting sick Friday night, so being available on a Saturday is great! I also enjoy that he has a sick" and a "well" waiting room. So during her well visits we aren't in contact with any viruses. |

At Dr. Friedland's office, I am always greeted with a hug and a smile. When my infant daughter had a nasty cough, after a late afternoon appointment at his office he ordered a chest x-ray. Dr. Friedland diagnosed her with pneumonia and knowing that I had a sick child, two other toddlers at home and a husband traveling, Dr. F went to our pharmacy, ordered, bought and waited for the pharmacist to fill a prescription and delivered it to our front door. Dr. A is so sweet and I highly recommend her to any mother who is looking for that continuity of care. Most of the time, you can get lost in a large practice with 10 different doctors because you see someone different every time you go to the doctor. Not at DestyOncall Pediatrics. I just love the care I get there. |

Dr. Baker is fantastic. His office is bright, cheery, clean as a whistle, brand new and geared for children. His staff is superfriendly, helpful and nice. My daughter is only 3 months old, but he is awesome with her. He always answers my questions and addresses my concerns. We are always taken right away, and Dr. Baker is as flexible as he can be with appointments. We are very happy with our sweet baby girl's pediatricians After many months of uncertainty, Dr. LaVoe was able to get our son's allergies diagnosed and under control. Our son can now sleep with out coughing awake all night and play like a normal child. The entire staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. It is obvious their focus is on my children every time I walk through their door. Being a Mom herself, Dr. Sims has a lot of hands-on experience. She is great with my two boys and they have no fear of the doctors because of her. She makes every visit fun and exciting. Best of all, I love how she listens to every detail about an illness or a symptom from a medication. You can tell she genuinely cares. |

Dr.Pascale Bastien was referred to me when my son was a couple of months old and was having constant sleeping problems, breathing, runny nose and ear infections. We found out that he needed to have his adenoids and tonsils removed. Dr. Bastien referred him to the best specialists at Philadelphia Children's Hospital and the surgery was performed by a wonderful doctor. Dr. Bastien is always helpful and it is never a problem to get a quick appointment. Her staff is great. |

If you want a doctor who actually cares about your family and treats you like an individual not a production line, Dr. George is perfect. When you go for your visit everyone is on a first name basis. You are treated like family. Dr. performs minor out-patient surgery such as mole removal or sutures — cheaper than going to hospital. You can always get an appointment right away. You get that personal care and attention at Dr. Seretis's without the big bill. |

I started taking my oldest son when he was 4 to see Dr Mike who was referred to us as an excellent chiropractic neurologist. We saw amazing results, and now all four of my kids see Dr. Mike. My son has been seeing him for almost 2 years and we've seen a wonderful improvement! |

Doc Bresler’s Cavity Busters |
The staff at Doc Bresler's Cavity Busters is friendly and understanding of a child's nature. From 16 months to 13 years old, all of my children are at ease in the kid-sized dental chairs. Your kids go back to the exam area without you. It's an amazing sight, almost like a Dr. Seuss dream. Vibrant colors, cars, and aquariums are what you'll see. A pager alerts you to consult with the dental assistant, hygienist or dentist. You'll find comfort in knowing their mouths are in good hands, kid-gloved hands. |

His office is extremely kid friendly (my 5-year-old likes to go just so he can play with the toys — I have never had to "force" him to go to the dentist). He has even written some children's books! |

What a gem of a dentist! We have been taking our now 2½-year-old to Dr. George ever since his first tooth emerged. Even though he cried the first few visits, Dr. George was so gentle and calm that my son never feared the visits, was happy immediately before and after the exam and, by the fourth visit, didn't cry at all during the exam. We never feel rushed. Dr. George spends a lot of time with us, providing useful information and answering all of our questions. I wish I'd had him as my dentist when I was growing up! |

She is very patient and thorough when explaining procedures to parents. Visits to her office never feel rushed and she gives her contact information, including e-mail address, to parents if any questions arise. |

The facilities are clean; they always squeeze you in if it is urgent. |

My child was born with medical complications and has special needs. It was by fate that I picked out the same pediatricians who oversaw our care in the NICU. Society Hill Pediatrics has been my rock through the good and bad. Dr. Bidi McSorley is informative, stays up to date on the trends in the medical field and does not rush you through your appointments. She has an ear to listen and always responds to her phone calls. I would recommend not only Dr. Bidi McSorley but the entire practice to anyone looking for a caring, supportive and wonderful pediatric practice. |

When my oldest daughter was about 6 or 7, when it was time to have her blood drawn, Dr. Pullen came out of his patient's room to access what was going on as my daughter was very loud & animated. He sent everyone away, got down on his knees and took the time to calm my daughter and then proceeded to draw her blood. Over the years this same caring attitude has been exemplified with my two other children. We love Dr. Pullen and the doctors at City Line Pediatrics! |

A lovely family-run practice with a kid-friendly waiting room. Even though it is a busy (read popular!) office, your child always gets 100% from Dan. Following a bad experience with a large, impersonal practice, we went to Dan on the advice of a work colleague. What a difference! No more rude reception staff, "leave a voicemail for a call back within 2 hours" or having to practically beg for a sick-child appointment for a very sick child. Dr Dan is the best! |

Dr.Siddharth was recommended to me during my daughter's four-month stay in the neonatal unit. Considering her complex medical needs, we really needed a doctor who would be totally involved and committed. Dr. Siddharth calls us when my daughter is admitted to the hospital and when we get home from the stay. She fought for home care nursing when we were denied. She listens to me and allows me to be 100% a part of my daughter's care. Dr Siddharth truly cares for us. |

Dr Scott is kind and reassuring. He takes his time and doesn't make you feel rushed or crazy for some of the "first time Mom" questions that I asked. His office staff is friendly and calls you back quickly. I have always gotten my son in the same day when he was sick. |

My daughter has a very complicated medical history, Dr Caboot is so optimistic and encouraging about her outcome. He listens to me and takes his time answering questions and explaining the care plan. If he is booked up, he reworks things and fits my daughter in. Whenever we are admitted, he comes to give us a special vist. Most of all, he enjoys getting my daughter to give him a smile or giggle. For parents with special children, it means so much to have people treat you child like any other child. |

Dr. Hwan quickly helped diagnosis my son's allergies and prescribed behavioral changes we could make as well as provided us with some information about hypo-allergy products if we wanted to go down that route. He even had thoughts of a new allergy this year and it was proven true by the tests. Dr. Hwan is easy to speak with and always welcoming of questions. When we had an emergency, he called us back on a holiday within 2 minutes of us leaving a message. It is easy to get regular appointments and he does have some night hours. |

Dr. Rencic is a dermatologist. And she is great! I have taken all four of my children to see her for a variety of reasons. I like her personality and how she deals with the children. She listens/talks to the parent but also speaks to children, not talking over, around or beneath them. Her office is clean and modern and her staff is excellent. |

Dr.Smith is so friendly and warm. My kids love him! He is always available to answer questions or provide guidance in an emergency. Dr. Smith is thorough and conscientious. He is warm, kind to my child and patient with my husband and me in answering our questions.Great with kids. Very patient. Answers all of my questions. Dr. Bradley Smith is a great doctor. He has great bedside manners and my children adore him. He listens to their problems and treats them with professional courtesy. I am so happy to have him as my children's physician. Dr. Smith is very thorough. It's easy to get your child seen when needed. Friendly, nice personality, caring, understanding. Dr. Smith and Dr. Achterhof are the best doctors I have had for my children. Their honesty, true concern for both the children and parents, and their visible love for what they do are just a few reasons why I love these doctors. Their extensive knowledge is evident every time I present them with a sick child and they know exactly what approach to take. The kids feel comfortable with them and so do I. |

Dr. Light is incredible with my boys. Dr. Ann is smart and up on the latest or will look it up with you on the Internet on her laptop so you both have the info. But she also knows how to trust the parent to do what's right for your little one. Dr. Ann Masciantonio is fabulous! My kids just adore her and talk about her all the time. She is smart, timely and clearly loves kids. Dr. Ann always makes sure that my child feels comfortable during the visit. She has even sat on the floor and examined my child while he sat in my lap because that is what he wanted. She has a special way with kids, a real gift. Dr. Masciantonio is great with my kids, they really like her and look forward to seeing her. She always makes me feel better about my personal insecurities about how I raise my kids. She is a Mom and adds little stories about her own kids for comparison or for a laugh. As a parent, I have never felt judged. She listens, she cares, she knows medicine. She explains things without leaving my husband and I feeling like she dumbs it down for us. |

Dr. Master is the first doctor we call when either of our children are showing symptoms of illness. His training and skill as a chiropractic neurologist has made all the difference in his treatment of our children and their body's response and recovery. He is very knowledgeable and very helpful treating children. Dr. Mike is great with the children. My granddaughter was having seizures when we first starting seeing Dr. Mike. She had been hospitalized and had seen many doctors and was a little scared. Dr. Mike was patient and took his time with her. It's been over a year and she has been seizure-free. He did the same things a neurologist did, but drug free. My son benefits from a chiropractic neurologist due to his history of sensory integration disorder. He specializes in children with all aspects of developmental disability. Dr. Master is always very friendly and talks to my son directly. My son loves going to see Dr. Master and feels better after his appointments. He listens to his patients. He is thorough in all his examinations. He doesn't hestiate to answer any questions. He is a very personable doctor. Dr. Masters is knowledgeble, kind, and one of the very few chiropractic neurologists found in USA. We are very lucky to have him so close by to help our son who has special needs. Dr. Mike is a chiropractic neurologist who has helped my daughter with a mild form of scoliosis. Her posture has improved and his bedside manners are awesome. Because he is also a functional neurologist, he is helping her with anxiety too. I wouldn't go anywhere else. My son was born with a brain injury and Dr. Mike takes the extra time and works with my son to meet him on his level. Additionally,his specialty of chiropractic neurologist aides in his explanation as to why my son does certain things as he relates it to the nervous system. Our child was showing signs of obsessive compulsive behavior. The school suggested we try counseling and possibly medication to help him. I was not too happy that he may have to be put on medication. Dr. Mike evaluated our son and believed that he could help him without medicaton. Within a couple of months we could see a difference in our son's behavior, and our son could feel a change within himself as well. How relieved grateful we are that Dr. Mike is in our lives. |
