Happy 4th of July weekend! There’s more than just the classic fireworks displays to celebrate Independence Day with your family this year. Check out these museum events, festivals and special deals for kids happening all weekend around the Philadelphia area.

Fourth of July Week with the Museum

The Museum of the American Revolution has been holding an array of 4th of July-themed events all week that will continue into the weekend. Check out their list of both virtual and in-person kid-friendly activities.

Part of Philadelphia’s annual Wawa Welcome America July 4th Festival, this free family-friendly block party will feature food trucks, art-making demos and readings from poets. Guests will also be able to enjoy free admission to the Barnes collection.

Freedom Liberty Celebration at the African American Museum in Philadelphia

Historical reenactors will guide participants from Franklin Square to the African American Museum in Philadelphia while interpreting speeches from African American historical figures. Then the museum will host a creative workshop for kids and their families exploring freedom and liberty.

Visit this Revolutionary War battlefield for a 4th of July celebration that includes guided tours, musket and cannon demonstrations, a solider display and special surprises.

You’ll be able to receive a mini 13-star flag, check out the flag made entirely of M&M’s and meet Betsy Ross in person on July 4 at the Betsy Ross House.

The Elmwood Park Zoo is offering $4 admission for kids ages 3-12 on July 4. Visitors will enjoy live music, and themed animal meet and greets among other fun festivities.

Pottstown’s GoFourth Street Fest
July 4, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Downtown Pottstown, PA 19465

Pottstown’s all-day 4th of July celebration kicks off with a parade, followed by a street festival featuring activities for kids and closes with, of course, a fireworks show.
