February is full of exciting events, including the oldest and largest event for children’s books in the country, the much-anticipated Harry Potter exhibit and Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Family Art Night at Portside Arts Center
Feb. 4, 6:30-8 P.M.

The African American Children’s Book Fair

The 30th annual African American Children’s Book Fair will be taking place at the Community College of Philadelphia this month. Hosted by the African American Children’s Book Project, the book fair is one of the oldest and largest single-day events for children’s books in the country.

Groundhog & Shadows Nature Walk

Join a local naturalist for this free program to search for groundhogs, learn about shadows, discover hibernation dwellings and dispel a few myths.

Animal Tracks and Signs

Plant a Valentine

Harry Potter: The Exhibition

The much-anticipated Harry Potter exhibition opens at The Franklin Institute on Feb. 18. This remarkable experience will include chances to look at authentic props and original costumes from the movies and engage with magical environments and installations.

Nature Kids: Maple Sugaring

Experience the tradition of tapping maple trees. Kids ages 4-8 can learn how to identify a maple tree, tap the tree, what a sugar shack is and how to use an evaporator. The program will also include a story time, nature walk and craft.

Winter in Franklin Square

Enjoy the last month of Franklin Square’s Electrical Spectacle Light Show presented by PECO. During the day, families can play winter-themed mini golf, ride the carousel to music and wander through the Snowy Silly Stroll. At night, the square will be filled with glistening lights and winter magic.

Under the Sea

This exhibition in the Print and Picture Collection at Parkway Central Library is all about the ocean.
The library will have objects and information on display for all ages to learn about the mystery and importance of the sea.
