Spanning the Spectrum

April may be National Autism Awareness Month, but providing families of kids with special needs information and support is a year-round mission here at MetroKids. Throughout the month, we'll be sharing interesting autism-related stories on our Facebook page. And just this week, we posted four new autism-related articles we're proud of.

In "Summer on the Spectrum," we look at the ways children with autism spectrum disorders thrive at camps dedicated to strengthening their social skills.

"Hope on the Horizon" explores a quartet of promising autism therapies.

"Kids Need Sensory Play" discusses the benefits of engaging the senses during playtime for all kids.

And "Differences Welcome" is a special needs-specific guide detailing a variety of events and places families can safely partake of a day or night of fun.

That's just a sampling of the volumes of articles you'll find on the SpecialKids section of our comprehensive website. We think it's an invaluable resource for all special needs families and hope you feel the same.

If there are specific autism-related topics you'd like us to cover in future issues, please leave a comment below or send an email to [email protected]. Your input is important and we love hearing from you.

Cheryl Krementz is the new managing editor at MetroKids.
