You recently completed your Master of Business Administration degree. Was it difficult to juggle a school schedule and family time?

It was extremely difficult, but with the support of my husband, I was able to get through it. I stayed home to take care of [the kids] during the day and took classes at night. I studied while they napped and sacrificed my own rest at times to complete papers. It was an exhausting time period but through prayer and my children as motivation, I graduated!

What’s the best way you’ve found to deal with
sibling fights?

They know when I say, “Sit on the step,” it’s not a good thing. After about two minutes, I allow them to get up and apologize. It has worked for my kids so far, but I don’t think it will when they become teenagers — I will have to figure something else out!

What’s one phrase you say to your kids that you hope they always remember?

Always value your education. Your knowledge is something that can never be taken away from you.

Snow day in Philadelphia. A blast, or a hassle?

A blast for me because I am usually in the house baking cookies with the kids, a hassle for Mr. Johnson because he is the one exhausted from shoveling the snow but has to come back in the house to kids with a sugar rush!
