Heinz Wildlife Photo Contest

Kids, teens and adults are invited to enter the annual nature photo contest sponsored by the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum. The contest includes three categories, age 12 & younger, ages 13-18 and adult.

There is no entry fee for kids 12 and under. The fee is $3 per print for ages 13-18 and $5 for adult entries. There is a limit of 3 submissions per person.

'Duck Love' by Brooke DiPietro, 11, of Ridley Park, PA, won 2nd place in the 2010 Heinz Refuge photo contest, children's division.Images may be of any nature subject, from any location including landscapes, wildlife, wildflowers and people enjoying nature. Pictures may not feature pets or domestic animals. Prizes include $10-$25 gift certificates to the Refuge’s gift shop for ages 12 & younger; $25-$75 cash for teens; and $100-$125 cash for adults.

All adult and teen entries must be mounted and matted with submissions limited to 8½ x 11 inch prints. (Mattes should be 11 x 14 inches.) Children 12 and under must also submit 8½ x 11 inch photos, which do not have to be matted but must be mounted.No framed photos will be accepted.

'The Islands' by Jalen Roy Century, 10, of Philadelphia, won 3rdd place in the 2010 Heinz Refuge photo contest, children's division.All entries must be submitted no later than 3:30pm, Thurs., Sept. 1. Entries can be dropped off at the Refuge visitor center between 8:30am to 4pm. Photos can be mailed but will only be returned if a self addressed, pre-stamped return envelope is enclosed.
