Winter Fun: February 6

0

February is National Bird-Feeding Month! Keep your feathered friends well-fed this winter with this nutritious snack that's fun to make, then head to these events.

Peanut Butter Paper Roll Bird Feeder

You'll Need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Jar of peanut butter
  • Plate and small bowl
  • Plastic knife
  • Birdseed

First, put peanut butter in the small bowl. Using the plastic knife, spread the peanut butter onto the toilet paper roll. Be sure to check that the peanut butter is thickly and evenly spread over the roll. Next, spread some birdseed onto the plate. Take the peanut butter-covered roll and roll it on the plate, attaching birdseed to the roll. Once finished, take your creation outside, slide it on a branch and wait for the birds to come to you!

On the next day at the Plainsboro Preserve in Cranbury, NJ, you'll count birds at the feeding station, build nesting boxes for spring, explore your artistic side and learn cool facts about birds you may not have known.
