Penguins, Pirates and Bubbles

0

What do penguins, pirates, bubbles and farmers all have in common? They're each the focus of four family events this weekend. Learn more about our top picks for weekend fun:

► Penguins take centerstage at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ on Saturday and Sunday. Kids can get up-close with the Aquarium's African penguins, learn about the endangered species and discover ways to help. For a $1 donation, you can buy a penguin footprint that supports sick, injured, orphaned and oiled sea birds.

► Guinness World Record-holder Fan Yang performs amazing feats with bubbles at The Gazillion Bubble Show at the Merriam Theatre in Philadelphia. Performances on Saturday and Sunday feature millions of tiny bubbles that fill the theater — and a giant bubble kids can step in. Tickets start at $15, so enjoying bubble fun won't break the bank.

► Who is the World's Greatest Farmer? Find out at Longview in Collegeville's "showdown" on Saturday, featuring friendly competitions between farmers, plus kids' contests and crafts, potato sack races and apple cider pressing.

► Avast ye mateys! Brandywine River Museum hosts a Family Pirate Adventure Day on Sunday, where kids can create pirate hats and colorful parrots, listen to pirate tales and go on a treasure hunt through the galleries. Admission is free until 12noon.
