John O'Hurley Children's Musical Featured Before Dog Show

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia National Dog Show is coming back to town next month and, with it, a children's musical based on the book by actor and dog show TV host John O'Hurley, will be performed four times in Norristown, PA.

Hurley's The Perfect Dogadapted from his book of the same name, is about Sam, a 12-year-old perfectionist who tries to train the family dog, Max, for a town dog contest. Hurley, best known as J. Peterman from Seinfeld, will attend the Thursday, Nov. 15 performance and answer questions from the audience after. The show will also be put on at the Centre Theater in Norristown on Friday, Nov. Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:30pm and Sunday Nov. 11 at 2pm.

A portion of proceeds will benefit To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc., a local animal rescue that will have dogs available for adoption before each performance.

Before The Dog Can Eat Your Homework First You Have To Do It: Life Lessons from a Wise Old Dog to a Young Boy, has hosted the National Dog Show's NBC broadcast on Thanksgiving Day for 17 years.

This year's show will again be recorded at the Expo Center in Oaks, PA over the weekend of November 17 and 18. And MetroKids will be there both days, so stop by and say hello.

More than 2,000 dogs will be at the show and spectators can visit the more than 150 breeds and their handlers when they aren't in the ring competing.

The dog show is taped on Saturday. On Sunday, there are athletic-dog competitions and family-friendly, hands-on activities.
