5 Ideas for the Rainy Weekend

0

The rain doesn't have to dampen your weekend plans. Here are five ideas for local, kid-friendly indoor fun, including engaging educational programs, enchanting theater and exercise.

1. Discover nature. Explore the great outdoors without actually venturing outside during interactive lessons and hands-on programs at the APS Museum and Wagner Free Institute in Phila. Briar Bush Nature Center in Abington, PA offers opportunities for kids to investigate natural items using tools like magnifying glasses and microscopes.

2. Get creative. Learn how to build your own clay sculptures at The Clay Studio in Phila. on Saturday morning.

3. See a show. The Walnut Street Theatre in Phila. kicks off its children's series on Saturday with Madeline and the Bad Hat, and Erin Lee and the Up Past Bedtime Band rocks out the Peanut Butter & Jams kids' concert series at World Café Live. You can see an Alice in Wonderland adventure, Through the Looking Glass, at Hedgerow Theatre in Media, and Snow White is on stage at Kelsey Theatre in Mercer County, NJ.

4. Try out yoga. Stretch and relax at the NCCL School's kid/parent yoga class in Newark, DE on Saturday, or find another local center that offers yoga.

5. Enjoy a Sunday afternoon tea. Bring your daughters and their American Girl dolls to the Premier Centre for the Arts in Middletown, DE for a show and tea. Trade the dolls for teddy bears during an afternoon of tea and art activities at the Medford (NJ) Arts Center's Teddy & Me Tea.
