The Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC) has launched a website, survey and petition drive supporting quality early education. The website — PromisingKids.org— includes ways to get involved supporting quality early care and education as well as resources and a blog called One Smart Mom.

Visitors to the site are invited to complete a survey that seeks to measure parent attitudes and to gauge how parents select early care and education. Anyone who completes the survey will be offered one free ticket to hear the authors of How to Walk to School: Blueprint for a Neighborhood Renaissance at DVAEYC’s annual conference Sat., May 7, 8:30am at the PA Convention Center in Philadelphia. Authors Jacqueline Edelberg and Susan Kurland will describe how one of Chicago’s worst schools transformed itself into a community hub. Additional tickets are available for $20 by calling 215-893-0130, ext. 237.

Also on the website, a Promising Kids petition to Pennsylvania Gov.Tom Corbett and the State Legislature urges continuing support for quality early child care and education. The resources section include links to parenting sites, advocacy groups and information on early childhood education and child development.
