Parents can breathe a sigh of relief, because the COVID vaccine has finally been approved for children ages 5-11. The FDA approved Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for this age group last week.

“Children can be vaccinated at any city run community clinic, most pharmacies, health centers, pediatrician offices,” Philadelphia Acting Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole said in a press briefing last Wednesday.

Here are some of those places in the Philadelphia area where you get can your kids vaccinated:

Pediatrician’s offices

Many pediatrician’s offices are offering the vaccine, but call ahead to make sure your child’s doctor already has doses available. Some offices may call their patients when their dose is ready.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

If your child is already a patient at CHOP, they can get vaccinated at one of the hospital’s primary care locations. Schedule vaccination appointments for eligible CHOP primary care patients here.

Health department clinics

Some specific city health clinics are able to offer kids’ doses. You can find a list of health clinics administering vaccinations to kids on the city’s Department of Public Health webpage. Be sure to check “children” in your search to make sure you’re seeing clinics that will vaccinate 5 to 11-year-olds.

Philadelphia public schools

Various public schools in the city are offering vaccines for ages 5 and older. They currently have pop-up vaccination sites scheduled on select dates through December 18. Find a list of vaccination events and their locations on the Philadelphia School District’s Office of Student Health Services webpage.

National pharmacies have been receiving shipments of children’s doses and are administering them across the city. Sign up online to get vaccinated at these pharmacies, which have locations throughout the Delaware Valley:

You can also search for available vaccines for specific age groups on the Vaccines.gov website.

If you live in New Jersey, you can find appointments on the New Jersey Covid-19 Information Hub.

Delaware residents can find health clinics and community events administering the vaccine on the state’s website.
