The first weekend of any month brings fun special events, but that rings even truer in the summer. As June arrives, take the opportunity to get out with your family, whether it be in the city or in nature.

 

First Friday at Cherry Street Pier

June 6, 4 p.m.

The first Friday of every month at Cherry Street Pier has exhibitions, market stalls, artist studio tours, food and drink and wonderful views of the Delaware River. Fun can be had by all ages, making this a great family outing no matter how old your kids are.

Pride 2025 at Please Touch Museum

June 7, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Please Touch Museum | 4231 Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, PA 19131

The rainbow will be on full display at the Please Touch Museum this Saturday, with a variety of fun activities for kids to celebrate Pride Month and the LGBTQIA+ community. There will be face painting, music, special story times and a pride parade float that kids can help contribute to. The events are included with museum admission.

Schuylkill Saturdays: Guided Hike

June 7, 11 a.m. – noon

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education | 8480 Hagy’s Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128

The beauty of this 365-acre nature preserve will be on full display this weekend, with a guided hike led by an environmental educator traversing an entry-level route through the property. The fun is open to all ages and ability levels, so don’t worry about getting caught up in an activity that’s out of your wheelhouse.
