Take the Kids: Voorhees, NJ
Nestled next to bigger, buzzier Cherry Hill, Voorhees quietly goes about its business as a top-tier South Jersey suburb. Home to great schools and youth recreation, it also fields notable family fun sites.
Go: Nothing’s far off Voorhees’ main corridor amid Rtes. 70 & 73, 15 or so miles from the Philly bridges (and not a mile away from the kid magnets of Sahara Sam’s water park and its new construction-themed neighbor, Diggerland).
Play: Tilt Studio at Voorhees Town Center Mall’s got 20,000 square feet of arcade attractions, a Twirlin’ Taxi ride, gemstone mining, a ball pit, climbing structure and four lanes of rollerball mini bowling. (1580 Voorhees Town Center)
Eat: While you’re at the center, hit Burger 21 for fresh bunned specialties, a dozen special sauces for shoestring-fry dipping, plus a bar for handspun milkshakes that can be spiked for the grownups. (12109 Town Center Blvd.)
Swing: Pleasant Valley Mini Golf boasts 18 classic small-links holes built around whimsical obstacles. Finish with fresh Jersey water ice at Caddy Snacks. Cash only. (93 Rte. 73)
Snack: Family-owned since the late ’80s, Sweet Eats makes frequent appearances on bakery best-of lists for its menu of cookies, pastries, bombes, jumbo cupcakes and cheesecakes. (310 S. Burnt Hill Rd.)
Puck-er up: The Flyers practice at the Flyers Skate Zone, so in addition to a full roster of youth skating and hockey programs, you’ll also frequently find a line of fans waiting outside for autographs. (601 Laurel Oak Rd.)
