Here's how to have a full day of kid-friendly family fun in Riverfront Wilmington.

Go: Riverfront Wilmington, a walkable cultural redevelopment on the scenic banks of the Christina, is easy to access: just a mile from I-95, with 10 public lots for no-hassle parking. For auto alternatives, SEPTA commuter trains from Philly stop at Wilmington Station; Riverfront points connect via a 36-passenger river taxi; and a Trolley round-trips to downtown Wilmington.

Eat: Kids eat up the nostalgic atmosphere at Molly’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Deli, a mom-and-pop parlor that serves soup and sandwiches along with sundaes, cones, chocolates and other sinfully good sweets. Bonus points for the lunch counter and outdoor seating options. (928 Justison St.)

Root: The Wilmington Blue Rocks step up to the plate to open their season April 8. The popular minor league baseball team has a stadium built for families, with a free kids’ club, play areas and a child-happy menu with gluten-free options. (801 Shipyard Dr.)
