Take the Kids: Lambertville & New Hope

0

A hop over a bridge spanning the Delaware River, state-to-state next-door neighbors Lambertville, NJ (in Hunterdon Co.), and New Hope, PA (in Bucks), are walk-
able sister towns with plenty to offer the whole family.

Play: The Bucks County Children’s Museum boasts interactive play spaces that let kids design a race car, fly in a simulated hot air balloon ride or go on a dino dig. (500 Union Square Dr., New Hope)

Ride: The steam trains of the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad take passengers for vintage rides through the vistas of Bucks County.  (32 W. Bridge St., New Hope)

Eat: Founded by two local teens, Café Blue Moose is the nation’s first 100 percent youth-run restaurant. Its French-flare menu has plenty of sandwiches and burgers to please kid patrons. (9 W. Mechanic St., New Hope)

Time-travel: Howell Living History Farm, replete with live animals, takes families back to the 1730s, when the area was a rural farm tract. Autumn-fun alert: The farm’s elaborate annual corn maze debuts this month. (70 Woodens Ln., Lambertville)

Snack: The aroma emanating from The Chocolate Box is enticing enough to warrant a stop for artisanal candy and unique teas. (39 N. Union St., Lambertville)

Smell the roses: Or the wildflowers, at least, at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, where you can check out native plants and hike gentle trails through woods and meadows. (1635 River Rd., New Hope)
