Your career must keep you very busy. Is it difficult to make family time?
For the most part, I leave at 5pm, even if that means I have to take some work home. I try to go to all school events like parties and performances, and have been able to attend all class trips except one since he started preschool.
What is your favorite thing to do with your son in Philadelphia?
I love showing him the culture of the city. Since I grew up here, most of the things I’ve done before – but you get a different perspective doing them with your child. Last year, Shane’s idea was to go to the observation deck at City Hall. We both loved it and the views were incredible!
You were diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. What helped you get through it?
I never doubted that I would survive because I had to for Shane. The majority of my family is local, and they took over handling things when I wasn’t able to. They drove Shane to and from school, he stayed overnight with them and my then 24-year-old, new lawyer brother ran my entire law office when I was unable to.
What’s something adorable and silly your son has said to you?
When he was in preschool, I kissed him goodbye and told him to be a good boy. His response to me was, “Be a good mommy!”
