This week is for celebrating young readers in Philadelphia. Reading Promise Week is a week-long citywide family literacy festival with free events and giveaways through Sunday.
Read by 4th, a Philadelphia-based movement to ensure that every local child has the skills to be strong readers, is hosting the festival. As they explain on the Reading Promise Week website, “Too many of our children have fallen behind in reading, but we won’t let the story end there. Reading Promise Week is a moment to acknowledge the work we still have to do, while stepping back to celebrate the great things happening in Philadelphia to support young readers.”
