Philadelphia MetroKids won a bronze award at the 2025 Parenting Media Association Awards, which honors achievements in parenting journalism across the United States.

These awards, judged by the University of Missouri School of Journalism and covering content published between July 2024 and June 2025, were announced at the PMA Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois, Nov. 6 to Nov. 8.

The article, “Hidden Gems: The Best Small Towns for Day Trips,” by staff writer Jillian Diamond, won in the category of “Travel Feature.” The feature is a compilation of five towns in the Mid-Atlantic region chosen for their accessibility, breadth of family-friendly activities and scenic locales.

“With a keen understanding of family dynamics, the writer has compiled a series of nearby destinations for those who long for adventure but are short on time,” the PMA Awards judges write. “Crisply written with plenty of useful suggestions, this feature delivers exactly what busy parents need.”

Last year, Philadelphia MetroKids won PMA awards in editorial for “Child Development & Parenting Article,” “Family Fun Article,” Profile” and “News Feature” and awards in design for “Calendar of Events” and “Feature Layout.” The magazine also won awards for writing and design in 2023, 2022 and 2021.
