Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park to Open in New Jersey This Weekend
It will be the largest indoor theme park in North America.
SpongeBob’s coming and in a big way.
Nickelodeon Universe theme park opens this weekend at the American Dream mall in the Meadowlands in North Jersey. At 8.5 acres, it will be North America’s largest indoor theme park with more than 35 Nickelodeon-themed rides, rollercoasters, and attractions. In addition to characters like SpongeBob and Patrick, Dora the Explorer, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it will have a Nickelodeon Slime Stage with buckets of slime and live entertainment.
Though opening-weekend tickets are sold out, admission for October 28 to November 7 is still available on the website, Americandream.com. There are two admission tickets: General Access for $39.99 and All-Access for $49.99, recommended for those taller than 48 inches who want to go on the thrill rides. Children under 2 are free.
The thrill rides include Shellraiser, with a 122-foot drop; Shredder, the world’s tallest free-spinning ride; and Skyline Scream, the tallest indoor spinning-drop ride.
Along with the amusement park, American Dream will open an NHL-sized ice rink this weekend, which will host open skate times, hockey tournaments and a special Halloween event on October 31.
America Dream, which will eventually be 55 percent entertainment venues and 45 percent retail, opens DreamWorks Water Park, the world’s largest indoor wave pool and slide, next month and Big Snow, an indoor ski and snowboard center, in December.
