There are three cultural institutions in our area that will unveil significant improvements and expansions in 2019.

Spring/Summer
Independence Visitor Center in Philadelphia will install a 42-foot digital Philly Welcome Wall that visitors can explore through a touchscreen. It is part of a $15 million improvement project that already includes an expanded gift shop with Philadelphia-themed goodies and a wrap-around terrace on the second floor.
June/July
John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove in Audubon, PA will become the John James Audubon Center for Art and Conservation in Mill Grove this summer when it opens a $16 million space for exhibits, two art galleries and an auditorium. There will also be a Fledgling Trail, an outdoor exhibit where kids can mimic the life stages of birds from egg to first flight.
November
Penn Museum in Philadelphia will open its restored Mexico and Central America Gallery and African Galleries with new interpretive displays, along with a renovated 618-seat Harrison Auditorium and a revived Main Entrance Hall. The project, which includes the new Middle East Galleries that opened in the spring, will also improve accessibility with two new elevators.
