The National Dog Show is returning to Oaks, PA on Nov. 17–18 to be broadcast on Thanksgiving Day, but you can show off your dog on Oct. 14 at the National Dog Show Charity Walk in Wayne, PA.

The walk, a fundraiser for several local charities including Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, Spring-Ford Music Association, Canine Partners for Life and others, will also include giveaways, raffles, games and competitions where your doggo can compete for best trick, costume or, simply, best-looking dog. There will also be agility demonstrations and your K9 can show off on the course as well.

The fifth annual walk marks the start of National Dog Show Month in Philadelphia leading up to the show, which returns to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. The competition Saturday, Nov. 17, will be taped to be broadcast on Thanksgiving Day on NBC. On Sunday, Nov. 18, there will be more dog exhibitions and family-friendly events.

The walk will take place at Wilson Farm Park near the Chesterbrook Blvd. exit of Route 202. It starts at 9am and will be over by noon, so it won't interfere with you Eagles' viewing.

Bring your leashed dogs. There is no charge for them to enter. Family tickets for two or more people are $35 if purchased in advance or $20 for an individual.

In addition to lots of dogs, special guests include 95.7 BEN FM Morning Show hosts Matt Cord and Kristen Herrmann (and her black-and-white pit bull Gloria), National Dog Show on NBC analyst David Frei, and gymnasts walking on their hands while dogs are leashed to their ankles. If you are looking to add another canine to the family, Morris Animal Refuge will be there with dogs available for adoption.

The registration and sponsorship fees will be divided equally among these charities:

•           Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House

•           Canine Partners for Life

•           New Leash on Life USA

•           Morris Animal Refuge

•           Pennsylvania Veterinary Foundation

•           Lilo’s Promise Animal Rescue

•           PennVet Charitable Care Fund

•           National Dog Show Charities

•           Spring-Ford Music Association (K-12 Band)

•           SNAP (Spring-Ford Area School District parents’ organization)
