Mom's Fall Secret

The shorts and tank tops are packed away and the aromas of autumn are pretty much everywhere. MomSpeaker Shivaun Williams has a take on falling into the fall season any mom can understand.

I haven't been to see my trainer in a while, so I feel safe to share this secret with you. Come closer, so I can whisper it to you.

It's okay to get fat in the fall.

There, I've said it.

I feel like fall is totally God's way of telling us it's okay to get fat.

Yes, I realize we are no longer cave-dwellers. But if we were, fall would be the perfect time to forage and pack on extra layers for winter. Yes, I realize we're women and not bears.

But when you're past the age of growing humans inside you, you long for that extra layer of comfort, of warmth, of pure, unadulterated fat.

Besides, who is going to see it underneath your oversized men's sweatpants and XXL hoodie? No one but you, that's who.

So go ahead, indulge in your pumpkin spice everything and throw on another layer of flannel. It's fall, dammit. Get cozy.

You'll have plenty of time to lose it again in the spring.
