Fantastic restaurants; upscale kids’, clothes and craft boutiques; South Jersey’s best farmer’s market (May-Nov.): The shabby-chic town of Collingswood, NJ has become a true destination for foodies and families. Here’s how to spend a happy day on main drag Haddon Ave.

GO: Collingswood’s just a 10-minute drive over the Philly bridges. Hard-to-find metered parking along Haddon Ave. is augmented by a lot at the LumberYard. Parking is 50¢ an hour; kiosks on every block accept bills, coins and credit cards. You can also take PATCO or NJ Transit to the Collingswood train station.

PLAY: While the kids romp in Duck Duck Goose’s in-shop play place (now free; unused admission cards can be turned in for a $9 credit), parents can enjoy free coffee and browse the sustainably made artisanal toys and clothes on the store’s shelves. 702 Haddon Ave.

EAT: Grilled cheese, burgers, all-day pancakes, massive shakes, three kids’ menus priced for small appetites — no wonder The Pop Shop has families forming a line out the door most nights. 729 Haddon Ave.

SHOP: Mt. Airy’s popular Nesting House now has a Collingswood outpost for its inventory of ecofriendly new and gently used kids’ stuff. A comprehensive cloth diapering program includes a trial package and lessons. 710 Haddon Ave.

SNACK: The eye-catching My Little Kupkake has robin’s egg blue walls, cushy seats and a confection case filled with yummy, affordable cupcakes ($2-$3) in flavors like red velvet, maple bacon, caramel popcorn and Andes mint. Gluten-free and vegan options are available daily. 685 Haddon Ave.
