Valley Forge National Historical Park
Valley Forge is known as the Revolutionary War encampment so brutal, it decimated Washington’s army. Kids become Junior Rangers by following an activity booklet that encourages exploration. The park also hosts reenactments, a speaker series and “enlistment days,” in which kids experience aspects of a soldier’s job.
Kidbit: At the Children’s Exploration Station in the Visitor’s Center, explore the history of George Washington’s horses, both Nelson and Blue Skin (Washington’s personal favorites), and their roles during the encampment at Valley Forge.
