Society Hill Synagogue Playschool
Our Playschool is a welcoming, inclusive school for children ages 2-5 that embraces diversity in religion, ethnicity, race, and family structure. Our philosophy is child-centered and play-based. We believe that children learn through play in a safe and nurturing environment. We respect children as individuals and respond to their needs with compassion and dedication.
We offer daily early care at 7:45 AM, afternoon arts until 3:00 PM, and extended care from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Our curriculum integrates age-appropriate academics focused on literacy and language acquisition, early math skills, and scientific exploration with free play and early socialization activities indoors and outside in our large courtyard and at local parks, thematic art projects, circle time and singing, and a celebration of Jewish values, holidays, and customs.
Our schedule includes ZoomDance classes tied to seasonal themes and beloved stories, Soccer Shots to develop gross motor skills and good sportsmanship, music and drama classes taught by a leading music and theatre educator, a Friday morning Shabbat celebration that brings all of our classes together with singing, dancing, and delicious challah, and trips to a variety of local treasures, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion, and theatre companies for live shows.
