From art workshops to science classes to even a couple events you can bring your dog to, this weekend holds something for every kid in the Philadelphia area.

Friday Art Club
May 14, 3:30-4:15 p.m.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy., Philadelphia, PA 19130

As part of the Art Kids program series, kids age 6-10 will have the chance to create abstract art inspired by the work of Sonia Delaunay. Young artists will use line, shape and color to collage concentric circles and create a folding book.

PAWS for the Cause: Friday Night Movie Night

The Bourse Food Hall is hosting a series of pet-centered movies throughout the month of May to celebrate National Pet Month. This Friday’s outdoor, socially-distanced showing is the family-friendly “The Secret Life of Pets,” and your dogs are welcome to join too.

Love Song Writing Workshops for Families

Local singer-songwriter, teaching artist and producer Vince Anthony will be leading an intergenerational virtual songwriting workshop as part of the Philadelphia Free Library’s One Book, One Philadelphia program. Children of all ages and their loved ones are invited to learn how to write love songs with and for each other.

Virtual-Adventure Aquarium presents: Who Lives Where?

Students will meet four animals and learn about their adaptations at this virtual event presented by the Center for Aquatic Sciences at Camden’s Adventure Aquarium and sponsored by the Friends of the Greater Olney Library.

Dog Days

This Friday is one of Elmwood Park Zoo’s recurring Dog Days open to the whole family, including the dog. The zoo invites owners to bring their dogs that meet the necessary requirements and are preregistered on their zoo trip.

Naturally Awesome Days: Fine Feathered Friends

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy., Philadelphia, PA 19103

Every month, Drexel University’s natural history museum hosts a different themed family-friendly science activity. This May, kids will investigate the feathered animals in the Academy dioramas and take home a craft kit to create their own feathered friend.

Yoga Adventures with Jitterbugs Music & Movement

Join the Radnor Memorial Library for a virtual yoga storytelling adventure designed for ages three and up. The warm-up, story with various yoga poses, and moment of relaxation will be led by Amy Vitsorek from Jitterbugs Music & Movement

Family Art Workshop: Surprising Color

Bartram’s Garden in southwest Philadelphia in hosting an outdoor and socially-distanced family art workshop. Attendees will draw on inspiration from the colors of the garden to explore using color to convey emotion, ideas and stories.

Keep celebrating mom even after Mother’s Day! Lulu’s Casita, a local indoor playground and party entertainment service, is hosting an outdoor bash with the Friends of Linwood Park to celebrate mothers. There will be flower crown making, photo sessions and light refreshments.
