Kid-Friendly Events This Weekend: Oct. 15-17

Not only do the fall festivals continue this weekend, but there are also family-friendly celebrations for everything from fossils to the African diaspora experience.

Paleopalooza
October 16-24
Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy., Philadelphia, PA 19103

The nine-day festival of fossils hosted by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University kicks off this weekend. The museum will holding both in-person and virtual events for kids who love dinosaurs.

Kids on the Canal Fall Festival
October 16

This autumn celebration at the National Canal Museum will include a leaf scavenger hunt and seasonal crafts.

Timber Creek’s Fall Festival
October 16, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Timber Creek High School’s Fall Festival will include crafts, food trucks games and door prizes.

Applefest
October 16, 12-4 p.m.
Fox Chase Farm, 8500 Pine Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19111

This apple-themed festival includes cider pressing, apple butter making, hayrides, pumpkin painting and more.

All Hallows Eve Fall Festival
October 16, 1-4 p.m.
Pennypacker Mills, 5 Haldeman Rd., Schwenksville, PA 19473

There will be crafts, hayrides and plenty of hands-on activities for kids at Pennypacker Mills’ fall festival.

White-Tailed Deer
October 16, 2-3 p.m.
Norristown Fam Park, 2500 Upper Farm Rd., Norristown, PA 19403

Ages 7 and up are invited to learn all about white-tailed deer from a local park ranger.

Boo at the Zoo
October 16 & 17; 23 & 24; 29-31, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Philadelphia Zoo will be hosting three weekends of Halloween fun. Guests are encouraged to come in costume.

Sankofa Fest
October 17, 12-4 p.m.
Bartram’s Garden, 5400 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19143

Bring the whole family to this celebration of the African diaspora experience at Sankofa Farm in Bartram’s Garden. Fun will include music and dancing, boating, kids’ activities, community workshops and more.
