Kid-Friendly Events this Weekend: June 4-6

It’s festival season! There are three that are great for kids happening this weekend, in addition to an exciting exhibition opening, a one-of-a-kind experience for dinosaur-lovers and, of course, the much-anticipated Philadelphia Flower Show.

FringeArts Circus Festival
June 3-13

This weekend kicks off the FringeArts 2021 Hand to Hand Circus Festival. For the next two weeks, circus artists will be presenting a variety of performances that are bound to enchant your kids.

The Pigeon Comes to Philadelphia! A Mo Willems Exhibit
June 4-September 12
Please Touch Museum, 4231 Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, PA 19131

An exhibition entirely devoted to the work and characters of Mo Willems, the children’s book author of favorites including “Knuffle Bunny” and “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!”, opens today at the Please Touch Museum. Through interactive activities, kids will be able to immerse themselves in the world of these charming characters.

PHS Philadelphia Flower Show
June 5-13
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park, 1500 Pattison Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19145

The Philadelphia Horticultural Society’s annual Philadelphia Flower Show will be held outdoors for the first time in FDR Park. Save the date for June 12, which will be the show’s “Family Frolic” day featuring special activities geared towards kids including a butterfly release, scavenger hunt and photo opportunities with Gritty, the famous Flyers mascot.

Strawberry Festival 
June 5, 8 a.m.
Linvilla Orchards, 137 West Knowlton Rd., Media, PA 19063

Linvilla Orchards is holding their annual Strawberry Festival during the peak of strawberry season this Saturday. The day will include strawberry picking and an exciting presentation of Delaware County’s largest strawberry shortcake.

Naturally Awesome Days: Shells and Shores
June 5, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy., Philadelphia, PA 19103

This month’s Naturally Awesome Days program is all about water creatures. Kids will explore the shores and shells in the Academy of Natural Sciences, learn the unique adaptations of water animals and receive a craft kit to take home to create their own shelled creature.

Dino Stroll Philadelphia 
June 5-6, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Ave., Oaks, PA 19456

Parents of dino-lovers: you don’t want to miss this. The Dino Stroll is coming to the Philadelphia area this weekend with its 75 life-like dinosaurs, reptiles and other animatronic creatures who move and make sounds.

Summer of Wonder Treasure Hunt
June 5, 10 a.m.
Kingsessing Library, 1201 South 51st St., Philadelphia, PA 19143

Kick off the Free Library’s Summer of Wonder events with this treasure hunt starting at Kingsessing Library. Ages 4-16 are invited to collect books at 10 sidewalk libraries throughout West Philadelphia.

Brown Brainy Brilliant Book Festival
June 6, 12-3:30 p.m.
Bartram’s Garden, 5400 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19143

This free book festival features local authors, live readings, giveaways, vendors and more. Fun for all ages, the Brown Brainy Brilliant Book Festival is centered around the mission of helping everyone see themselves in stories.
