
This weekend sees some of the family-friendly Pride events from our recent round-up, as well as a special family day at the much-anticipated Philadelphia Flower Show. Elmo and friends will be throwing a pirate-themed weekend at Sesame Place and Sunday kicks off a weeklong Flag Fest at the Betsy Ross House. Check out these events and more this weekend.
Pride Celebration

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is hosting an after school virtual art program for ages 6-10. They’ll learn how to make their own creations inspired by the work of Bridget Riley, an artist who worked with optical illusions.
Family Frolic at the Philadelphia Flower Show

Saturday is the Philadelphia Flower Show’s special day for young families. it will feature special activities geared towards kids including a butterfly release, scavenger hunt and photo opportunities with Gritty, the famous Flyers mascot.
PECO Family Jams: Taller de Superhéroes

For the Taller de Superhéroes, or Superhero Workshop, the Magic Gardens invited local artists to work with migrant families to create superhero costumes about their place of origin. This weekend, visitors can see their creations, talk to the creative teams and take home their own superhero craft kits.
Elmo’s Pirate Weekend

Sesame Place is holding a pirate-themed weekend where kids can go on a treasure hunt, watch showings of the “Elmo and the Bookaneers” production and take photos with Elmo and his friends dressed in pirate costumes.

Mt. Cuba Center, a botanical garden, will be hosting an outdoor bird show where guests can interact with birds and watch a free-flight show.
Flag Fest 2021

This Sunday kicks off the weeklong Flag Fest at the Betsy Ross House. Betsy herself will raise the flag in the courtyard at 10 a.m. and then storytellers from Once Upon A Nation will be sharing short, interactive stories about the U.S. flag. Plus, the festivities will include the assembly of a huge American flag made of M&Ms.
Doylestown Pride Festival
