First Look: George Washington at the National Constitution Center

A photo tour of the new free-for-kids summer exhibit

Starting July 1, kids can visit the National Constitution Center in historic Philadelphia for completely free.* This free-admission promotion even includes access to the special summer exhibit Discover the Real George Washington: New Views from Mount Vernon.

I visited the Center for the opening of George, and it has fun interactives and odd artifacts to keep kids entertained while they’re learning interesting facts about our first president.

Click on any of the thumbnail photos below to launch a slideshow tour of the exhibit. My favorites: the life-size models (perfect for photo-ops), the real set of dentures Washington wore (guaranteed to elicit an "eww!") and the trivia game at the end of the exhibit. You feel like a game show contestant on the platform, with screens that light up when you correctly answer questions about Washington’s presidential accomplishments.

*"Kids Free Summer" Promotion Details: Up to four children ages 12 & younger who visit the National Constitution Center from July 1-Sept. 5, 2011 with one paying adult ($12) are free.
