Life at a glance:

3½-year-old daughter, married for 6½ years, stay-at-home mom and assistant to husband, a realtor.

Your daughter was diagnosed with autism last year. How has this journey changed your view on parenting and life?

I have learned to slow down my pace and just be. It took me a while to come to terms with the diagnosis, but now I embrace it as a part of my daughter and learn from it every day.

What advice do you have for someone going through a similar experience?

Research as much as you can, but don’t overwhelm yourself. Go with your gut instincts, join support groups and take time for yourself.

What’s your favorite family wintertime activity?

Listening to Christmas music and driving around neighborhoods to see all of the decorations.

Finish this sentence in five words or less. “My family is…”

…imperfectly perfect.
