Tell us about your work with the Middletown, DE MOMS Club.
I've been a member for almost two years now. I thought it would be a great opportunity for my children and I to meet other local families. We've been having fun since the day we joined! It's nice having the boys involved in playgroups and attending planned events. I've also been involved with the Party Planning Committee. We plan four great parties a year for all members of the club to enjoy with their children. The Halloween party is my favorite — I love the fall season. Carving pumpkins and decorating on a nice, cool October day is always fun and memorable!
How can someone become involved?
Anybody looking to join a local MOMS Club in their area should go to Momsclub.org. I highly recommend joining. The children and moms both benefit!
Do you have any strategies for preparing your kids for back-to-school / first-day-of-school?
My oldest is entering Kindergarten, and for the last two years he's enjoyed getting ready for back-to-school by shopping for his backpack and lunchbox. He likes to pick everything out on his own. It helps him realize that school time is right around the corner. Talking about the upcoming school year, the classroom and teachers helps too. He also like to know that he'll soon see all his friends!
Your boys sound like busybodies! How do you keep them occupied on a rainy or stay-at-home day?
A movie or bowling is a great rainy day activity. We also love crafts. Recently we tried food coloring finger paint!
What is your favorite thing about living in Middletown?
Sitting outside on a nice summer day at the Chesapeake Inn with friends and family. Or taking the kids to enjoy a yummy treat at our local Rita’s or Bruster’s.
Favorite family-friendly place to visit?
My boys love the Delaware Children’s Museum and can’t wait to go back to Dutch Wonderland!
