Prince Wednesday, O the Owl and Miss Elaina join Daniel Tiger for exciting adventures in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live!, a live-action performance making its Philadelphia debut at the Merriam Theater Jan. 15-16, 2016, to kick off its first national tour.

“We are thrilled to bring this imaginative production to the families of Philadelphia as the very first stop of this tour,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “This live show, the endearing characters, and their adventures provide the perfect opportunity to introduce little ones, and their families, to live theater.”

The show, based on an episode from the beloved animated program on PBS Kids, follows the furry main character and his friends as they ride around the neighborhood on Trolley, learning the importance of appreciating one’s neighbors. To provide an authentic experience for fans, Daniel is fully costumed and the same child actor who provides the little tiger’s voice for the TV show has voiced his lines for the stage production. Live actors and delightful puppets fill out the cast.

Director and choreographer Jennifer Rapp designed the show to make the audience feel like they are part of Daniel’s world. During the performance he’ll talk directly to audience members, ask them questions and respond. Some of the musical numbers involve interactive dances where kids (and adults!) can dance along at their seats as the show’s characters move through the aisles. Some lucky spectators will get to give Daniel or one of his friends a high-five!

Rapp notes, “There’s nothing like a communal experience with hundreds of kids seeing characters who are rock stars to them.” She hopes children will leave the show feeling like they were part of Daniel’s best day ever. And parents who watched Mister Roger’s Neighborhood will enjoy this nostalgic peek back into the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

Tickets start at $20. All Price Level 1 tickets include a Meet and Greet with stars of the show. Click here to book tickets and get more info.
