Best Summer Ever
Cardigan Summer Session blends classroom learning with camp fun for an unforgettable summer for girls and boys ages 8-15
Cardigan Summer Session attracts girls and boys from across the country and around the world to our 525-acre lakeside campus to enjoy a truly unique program that blends classroom learning with the quintessential New England summer camp experience.
We would love to have your child join us for a summer of adventure, academic enrichment, and personal growth! At Cardigan, each individual is celebrated and elevated, and our students leave campus at the end of the summer with friendships that last a lifetime.
Our days are full! Mornings are set aside for classes and include course offerings that cover a wide range of subjects for that will inspire students through experiential, hands-on learning. With a low student-teacher ratio of 3 students for every teacher, our classes are tailored to each individual and include diverse topics such as ceramics, forensics, essential academic skills, computer coding, and wilderness survival, as well as traditional offerings like SSAT Prep, reading and writing workshops, math skills development, and English as a second language.
Some of our students’ favorite courses include The Hero’s Journey (English), Making Things Go (Science), Travel the World in Book (Social Studies), Introduction to Coding, Explorations in Art, and The Writer’s Workshop.
After a community lunch, students have structured activity blocks during the afternoons and evenings. Each student can participate in several activities each day, pursuing passions, conquering challenges, and developing new skills. Cardigan’s beautiful campus and the surrounding New Hampshire mountains are the perfect backdrop for activities like swimming, mountain biking, hiking, yoga, paddle boarding, tennis, model rocketry, drama, basketball, street hockey, arts and crafts, and more.
Weekends provide an opportunity to take a break from the structure of the academic week! Each Friday we kickoff the weekend with entertainment from performers like magicians, stunt dogs, hypnotists, or Guinness World Record holders. On Saturdays, students can choose from a number of camp and academic electives that include everything from exciting local mystery trips to jewelry making, STEM challenges, tie dye creations, and farm visits. Then on Sundays, our entire community travels together to explore all that New Hampshire has to offer. From a day at the beach to taking in a ballgame, these adventures strengthen friendships that can last far beyond the summer. In recent years, we have taken field trips to go zip-lining, play mini golf, attend a minor league baseball game, splash around at a waterpark, and visit a museum.
Many Summer Session students return for multiple summers as they are drawn to renew their connections with friends, share the bond of this special community, and build upon the rewarding experiences that have catalyzed their independence and self-confidence. When our students return home at the end of the summer, parents often reach out to share the transformational growth they see in their child.
The value of a true residential camp experience where children can play, laugh, study and learn together in person is more important now than ever, and Cardigan’s Summer Session is where you will find it. We hope to see you on campus soon!
