The 2014 Philadelphia Flower Show is just around the corner (March 1-9 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center). Earlier this week we sent MK photographer Brittany E. Hair to get a sneak peek at the "ARTiculture" theme that will highlight the Philadelphia Horticultural Society's annual extravaganza.
Headlining events include a live Q&A session with lifestyle guru Rachael Ray (March 7, 1:30-2:30pm); a Gardener's Studio, where home gardeners of all skill levels can pick up tips; a Garden to Table Studio for ongoing chef demos; and a live design competition for some of the nation's top floral designers. There's also plenty of family fun on tap. Here's a preview of some of the gorgeous kid-friendly displays and activities.

Kid-wise, look for:
- A show-wide scavenger hunt.
- The Crayola Experience, a giant color-by-number painting that guests can add to daily, as well as a Crayola kiosk that allows visitors to turn an image of themselves into coloring-book line drawings.
- The Make & Take Room with two DIY projects: $10 lets you create a wearable craft; for $25, you can build your own terrarium.
- The Butterfly Experience, an interactive exhibit that features 20 species of butterflies guests can walk among and feed ($3).
- Family Fun Pak: Single admission costs $32 per adult and $22 per child at the door (it's $5 less if you order online), so the $70 Family Fun Pak maximizes your Flower Show dollar. It includes four tickets to the show, a card to use for food and a free one-year PHS membership.
Keep an eye out for more from the 2014 Philadelphia Flower Show. We'll see you there.
