Mother’s Day weekend is coming up and the Philadelphia area is filled with a wide variety of events. Among the offerings are train rides, a make-up class and an outdoor movie. Check out these eight local events for moms and kids to enjoy together.
Mother’s Day Weekend at the Museum of the American Revolution

The Museum of the American Revolution will be hosting talks and activities all Mother’s Day weekend about the women who played important roles during the Revolutionary War. Mothers who attend will receive a free carnation.
Mommy & Me Make-Up Event at Primp and Play

This spa and party space for families is offering a special make-up class for mothers and daughters. Do each other’s make-up, sip mimosas and juice and take a photo together the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

Movies with Mom

Enjoy an outdoor movie showing of “Brave” about the special and complicated relationships between mothers and daughters. Tickets are $45 per vehicle and all proceeds will benefit the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.

Mother’s Day Express at West Chester Railroad

The West Chester Railroad is hosting two 90-minute round trip train rides from West Chester to Glen Mills on Mother’s Day. Moms ride for a reduced rate and families can explore the historic Glen Mills train station and picnic along Chester Creek.

Celebrating mom doesn’t have to end on Sunday! The weekend after Mother’s Day, Lulu’s Casita, a local indoor playground and party entertainment service, is hosting an outdoor bash with the Friends of Linwood Park to celebrate mothers. There will be flower crown making, photo sessions and light refreshments.
