Spotlight On: Delaware State Fair
The Delaware State Fair celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, Thurs., July 23-Sat., Aug. 1. It’s jam-packed with activities that family members from every generation can enjoy, including cooking demonstrations, carnival rides, storytimes and star headliners.
The Delaware Electric Cooperative’s Free Entertainment Tent is loaded with kid-friendly fun. Recycled Percussion, a hip-hop drumming group, and Dale K, a comedic hypnotist, perform daily, 7-10pm. Also watch talented Delaware kids & teens perform during the All Youth Talent Showcase, Sun., July 26, 1pm. Get tips on how your family can live healthily from Nemours Health & Prevention Services during Healthy Kids Day at the Tent, July 28. That day, school-age kids are admitted to the Fair free, 8am-5pm.
Don’t miss the nightly parade at 6:30pm saluting the All Star Youth of the Day. The public can nominate an outstanding kid younger than age 20 (as of July 1) to win the title. Visit the Fair website for details.
