Fall into family fun on the farm
Celebrate the turn of the season at some of these local, family-friendly farms
Kids can explore a 6-acre corn maze, slide down the Super Straw Slide, play pumpkin checkers and paint pumpkins at Fifer Orchard’s Fall Fest in Camden-Wyoming, DE, Mon.-Sat., Sept. 17-Oct. 31. Admission is $7 per person, or $30 per family of seven.
Ramsey’s Farm in Wilmington, DE is open weekends, Sept. 29-Nov. 4. Visit for hayrides, pumpkin picking and kids’ activities including the Flashlight Corn Maze.
Fall Festival Weekends at Milburn Orchards in Elkton, MD run Sat.-Sun., Sept. 15-Oct. 28. Activities include hayrides, mazes, pumpkin and apple picking, arts & crafts, pony rides and a special BarnYard theme every weekend.
Celebrate apples at Shady Brook Farm in Yardley, PA. On Apple Fun Days, Sept. 8-9, pick apples, enjoy food samples, wagon rides and kids’ inflatable rides for a $2 admission price. During Fall Fest, Sept. 15-16 and 22-23, enjoy additional fall fun attractions, including the new rope spider web and giant jumping pillows for a $12 admission price. PumpkinFest opens daily Sept. 29-Oct. 31. Pick pumpkins, visit farm animals and explore corn and straw mazes. Admission is $12.
Visit Hillside Farm in Media, PA for Greener Partner’s Heirloom & Heritage Festival on Sat., Sept. 29 for food, visits with livestock, hayrides, a pie bake-off and an heirloom tomato contest. Admission is free.
Visit Pumpkinland at Linvilla Orchards in Media, PA, Sept. 8-Nov. 4 to pick pumpkins and apples, see giant scarecrows, climb through straw bale and corn mazes, find fall decorations and toys, and enjoy hayrides, face painting and pony rides.
Friends of Fox Chase Farm in Philadelphia is a working educational farm, and only open for visits during special events. Check it out on Sat., Sept. 8, 10am-12noon for a free Fall Open House, where you can explore the farm and livestock barns. Head back on Sat., Oct. 20 for Applefest for live music, games, hayrides, apple cider and apple butter making. Admission is $3-$5.
Visit Indian Acres Tree Farm in Medford, NJ, Sat.-Sun., Sept. 15-Oct. 28 for pumpkin picking, live music, face painting, and special attractions including a rock climbing wall and zip line. Septemberfest, Sept. 15-16, includes a special Craft Show and Kids’ Fun Fair.
Pumpkin picking hayrides at Springdale Farms in Cherry Hill, NJ begin Sept. 29-Oct. 30. Until then, check out the corn maze on weekends, Sept. 14-Nov. 4. Explore the maze in the dark on Flashlight Fridays, Sept. 14, 21, 28 and Oct. 5.
