Bark in the Park at Nottingham County (PA) Park on Sat., Oct. 2 celebrates dogs with an all-day vendor fair, obedience and agility demonstrations, pet portraits and other dog-friendly fun. Free event, $5 parking.
Delaware Humane Association’s 20th annual Walk for the Animals on Sun., Oct. 3 is themed Woofstock this year. Dress up your dog and yourself in hippie attire and head to Banning Park in Wilmington, where you can enjoy musical entertainment, dog games, a photo booth, vendor fair, lunch & Canine Contests with prizes after your walk. 10:30am. $5-$35, ages 5 & younger free. Participants are asked to raise at least $50 in pledges.
At OctoberFETCH on Sat.-Sun., Oct. 9-10 at Salem County Fairgrounds in Woodstown, NJ, dogs can show off tricks, play games and exercise. Pups can try their paws in agility courses and activities such as disc dogs, a Frisbee-like game. Demonstrations and practice sessions from experts will be available for beginner doggie athletes. Friendly competitions include a live costume contest, a photo contest, a talent show and races. Kids can play on moonbounces, make scarecrows, enjoy games such as “Pass the Pumpkin” and learn the dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” For owners, presentations from veterinarians and pet professionals range from topics on canine health to preparing your pet for showbiz. $7-$18.
Gilda’s Club Delaware Valley, an organization that provides support for adults & children living with cancer, presents the 12th annual Paws4Life Dog Walk on Sat., Oct. 9 in Warminster (PA) Community Park. Fun for people and pets include contests, music, food and raffles. Register to walk individually or create a team. $25-$30 per leash.
Wag-n-Walk for PAWS for People at Glasgow Park in Newark, DE on Sat., Oct. 23 features a dog-friendly 5K run & walk, 1K kiddie run, a doggie walk & picnic. Pet agility courses, a blessing of the animals, doggie games, face painting and a pet costume contest are also planned for the day. PAWS for People is a volunteer organization that provides seniors, children and people with disabilities with therapeutic visits with pets. $10-$30 minimum donation.
