Meet Our CoverKid: Nicole N.

Nicole N. serves up serious cuteness along with Springdale Farms’ apple cranberry pie. The 3½-year-old from Bear, DE, handily won the Readers’ Choice voting during our 10th-anniversary CoverKids contest. Mom Valerie fills us in on the preschooler’s interests and their busy blended-family life.

Nicole’s faves: “She loves going to the park, attending gymnastics class, participating in Soccer Shots, swimming, singing and dancing. Her favorite subjects at Caravel Academy are art and music. And her favorite movies are Frozen, Epic and Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy.”

Future plans? “It’s too early to tell, but she says she wants to be a doctor (she loves Doc McStuffins) and a chef (we watch Food Network) when she grows up.

What made her enter CoverKids? “She looks at MetroKids with me and she thought it would be fun to enter the contest. She was surprised and very happy to win Readers’ Choice.”

Bear-based family fun: “We like to go to Glasgow Park and swim at the Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA

Why they’re an MK family: “As a mom of a typical 3½year-old and a 17-year-old with autism, MetroKidsand SpecialKids are both invaluable resources for me. Our family outings/short trips are usually based on events in MetroKids. The education articles and comparisons of preschools were extremely helpful in picking a school for Nicole. SpecialKids is a great resource for info about autism, scholarships for special needs and services that benefit my son Jordan.”
