60 Days of Summer Fun Snapshot
Each day in July & August, MetroKids will feature an activity, idea, outing or exclusive giveaway that will add fun to your family’s summer. Below is a sampling of the dozens of activities we’ll feature.
This Summer...Be a Cowboy (or Cowgirl)
Horseback riding, fishing on the Malibu Lake, searching for shooting stars on an evening hayride and roasting marshmallows by the fire: It sounds like a dream, but it’s all available on the 800-acre Malibu Dude Ranch in the Pocono Mountains. For more cowboy-style fun, round up the family and head to the Cowtown Rodeo in Salem County, NJ to watch a professional rodeo Saturday nights through the end of September. Yee haw!
Be a Music Connoisseur
Concert tickets can be tough to score. You won’t have to worry about them at the Delaware County Summer Festival at Rose Tree Park in Media, PA. Check the festival website for special kids’ concerts, including the Cat’s Pajamas on July 29. Be a Farmer

Workshops are available throughout the summer in Collegeville and Media, PA. Children can participate in Tiny Test Kitchen, a workshop about seasonal and local eating where kids tour the farm and make a fun, healthy snack at the Longview Center for Agriculture in Collegeville every Sunday, or attend a free, plant-themed story time every Thursday. Celebrate some of your favorite foods with hayrides, recipes and samples, and cooking demonstrations at a Fifer Orchards Peak Party in Camden-Wyoming, DE. Hear live music, play games and enjoy blueberry treats at the Mood’s Farm Market 7th Annual Blueberry Festival on July 7 in Mullica Hill, NJ.
FreePlay on the Parkway, a “pocket park” on the south side of the Ben Franklin Parkway between 21st & 22nd streets has a full schedule of free kids’ programming planned through the end of September. The play space, created by Play Inbetween, is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm, and Sunday, 10am-3pm.
