Skate Free at RiverRink in Philly on Friday, Nov. 23

Free ice skating and skate rental to celebrate the start of its 25th season.

The Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing will open its 25th season next week with free skating on Friday, Nov. 23.

Skate rentals are also free and you can reserve up to four tickets per time slot here. The 90-minute sessions start at 11am and go to 11pm, but organizers say they will also make times available for people who just drop by on the day after Thanksgiving.

"So fear not if you don’t snag one of the ones online," says the post on its website. "There are still plenty if you come on down to the rink that day."

Independence Blue Cross, the rink's founding partner, is underwriting the free-skate day. In the event you can't make it on Nov. 23 (It is Black Friday and some of you might have other plans for how to spend the first official shopping day of the holiday season.) the rink will be open seven days a week, including holidays, through March 3, 2019. A tree lighting is scheduled for Nov. 30. Check out all the family-friendly events and activities here.
