Philadelphia, PA 19103

The Franklin Institute offers 11 weeks of Discovery Camp for children in grades Pre-K – 8. Each camp day includes hands-on science activities and workshops, museum exploration, live science shows and demonstrations, a snack, a break for lunch, and time for outdoor play. Campers may also have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers and see planetarium, IMAX and 3D shows.
The July 15 – 19 session, “Spy Science,” treats campers to a peek at the limited time, special exhibit, Spy: The Secret World of Espionage, at The Franklin Institute May 4- October 6, 2013. In this week-long session, campers will learn how spies have taken science to new levels with technology, cryptography, disguises and stealth.
Can’t make it into the city for camp? Campers can also enjoy The Franklin Institute’s signature brand of hands-on science learning at Discovery Camp at Valley Forge National Historical Park. Offered for two weeks in August, campers will learn about science and history while exploring the lush environment of the Park and enjoying the wide range of natural and cultural resources the Park has to offer. Much of the camp time will be spent outdoors, learning about ecosystems, natural resources, weather, and the history of the park itself, as well as the science behind historical battles, the lives of Revolutionary War soldiers and more. Campers will also earn a special Junior Ranger badge by uncovering the science and stories of the Park’s history and environment that are found in the surrounding buildings, monuments, forests and meadows.

All camp sessions run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with early arrival and late departure options available. Half day programs are also available for Pre-K campers.
