Meet a MetroKids Mom
MetroKids Magazine wants to get to know our readers and is excited to introduce a new feature in our magazine that spotlights a mom living in our area. We ask her to tell what she likes best about where she lives, share some parenting insights and more.
our August 2011 MetroKids Mom:
Bucks County, PA
Two sons, ages 3½ and 7½; one stepson, age 18
Best part of raising kids in your town:
I love Bucks County! There are so many parks and other fun areas that are free. I also love the smaller-sized elementary schools.
Best parenting advice:
My friend/former daycare provider Janet told me to never be afraid to ask for help. Don't try to do it all alone.
Tips on raising young kids:
Have patience and tolerance. Show as much love and support as you can. Toddlers are discovering who they are. They are impressionable and occasionally stubborn (did I mention patience?). Children in their elementary years start to show signs of maturity. They are more attentive to their peers. Be in tune to your child's needs. What may seem like a small issue to you may be huge to them.
Favorite family summer activities:
Going on day trips to the beach, visiting the park, a local zoo, the library. When it's really hot, we like to spend time together in the A/C playing Wii.
Your family in three words:
Loving, beautiful, blessed.
