Explore Lewes-area maritime history at this museum, site of the first Dutch settlement in Delaware. You’ll learn how sailors used to lift heavy canvas sails & how people once dressed for the beach. Plus: discover all sorts of sea creatures, from horseshoe crabs to mysterious objects that were found on the beach in 2004. Kidbit: The Zwaanendaal Merman statue is made from fish, hair, ivory and a shrunken monkey head, among other curiosities.
