Located along the banks of the Brandywine River, Hagley was originally an early 19th century gunpowder mill. Today, history and science combine in hands-on exhibits. At the schoolroom in Worker’s Hill, solve puzzles and try writing with a quill pen. In DuPont Science & Discovery, you can see a real space shuttle suit and sit in Jeff Gordon’s NASCAR. Younger kids often like playing with the axles, levels and gears in "Easy Does It!"
KIDBIT: Through Jan. 1, The du Pont family’s ancestral home features exquisite decorations and items that highlight the season’s history during Holidays at Hagley. Swing by the second floor of the visitor center to cast your vote in the new gingerbread-house contest.
