Built and owned by tannery operator and abolitionist William Corbit, the house was important in concealing runaway slaves. Family tours immerse guests in the time period as kids set off on a scavenger hunt with a cap and haversack filled with a spyglass, fire-starter kit and pocket watch. Other tours take visitors around the servant areas, turn them into “Freedom Seekers” and explore the hiding places of slaves, like the cabinets on the third floor.
