Constructed in the 1760s, the site sits with a cannonball lodged in its foundation — a reminder of the two-day British-led bombardment that took place here during the War of 1812. Inside, the Maritime Museum boasts nautical artworks, half-models, documents and memorabilia that chronicle the sea’s role in Delaware’s history. Nearby, 1812 Memorial Park honors fallen soldiers with a granite monument and naval guns.
